Does AntispywareBot Actually Work? Find Out In Our Review

Does AntispywareBot Actually Work? Find Out Here.

By Patrick Longbow

Perhaps lately you have been downloading a lot of things from the internet such as music or programs and you have noticed your computer getting slower or you have been getting constant popups when trying to surf the internet or you have new icons in your bookmarks and favourites folders. If you are experiencing any of these problems then there is a very good chance you have spyware on your computer.

Spyware is big business these days. Publishers release spyware out onto the internet, inserting them in to program, music files or even on websites that will install once you receive them. Once your computer is infected there are many things spyware can do including intercepting any information you send and receive over the internet. Do online banking? Then there is a chance your information has been intercepted. Spyware also tracks which sites you vist and how many times. Spyware can grab personal information such as email addresses and sell them to other companies without your permission.

The AntispywareBot Review:

You can prevent all these headaches simply by using a good spyware program that will remove any spyware already on your computer and prevent any future infections. I was tasked with trying AntiSpywareBot to see if it would do those things.

AntiSpywareBot is now fully updated to its 2007 edition. Once you install the program you’re greeted with a very cool looking program interface. Infact it’s a bit to busy intially and looks intimidating with many options to choose from. There is a big start scan button in the starter area so we’ll start with that. Scanning your system happens very quickly with AntiSpywareBot. Once its completed you will be shown a scan results window that includes all the various areas on your computer that spayware infections have been found plus it lists what type of infection it is. You can decide to delete all the infections found in one fell swoop or pick and choose which harmful applications you want to get rid of manually by ticking/unticking each box.

You can also choose to scan only certain files or folders on your system if you want a more detailed or faster scan depending on your needs.

As is usual with these type of programs there is also a quarantine area which is a good failsafe incase the program deletes some applications that your system actually uses to operate. Any files the system thinks is infected with spyware get added to the quarantine section first and from there you can select if they should be deleted forever or restored to their original location.

AntiSpywareBot also has an ignore list function which mean you can add any folder, files or applications that you don’t want the program to scan which is useful if you’re worried about the program accidently deleting a file or program you really need.

AntiSpywareBot also has some more advanced features you don’t normally see in Spyware programs. BHO or browser helper object manager is a neat feature that helps you manage object thats attach themselves to Internet Explorer and start each time your browser starts such as toolbars, With the help of the BHO manager you can remove any programs you don’t want.

AntiSpyWareBot also has a startup manager that will help control the programs that launch whenever you start your computer. This is good tool to have becuase many programs start when Windows does that you don’t need and just bog down your computer. By using this startup manager you can reclaim resources that will help improve your systems performance.

Some other features of AntiSpywareBot include an add/remove program area and full registry backup manager. Plus you can also set the program up to scan on the schelude of you choosing such as when you’re sleeping or at work.

Finally AntiSpywareBot also has a home page manager. if your homepage has been hijacked by spyware with this feature you can reclaim your home page again quickly.

Overall I thought AntispywareBot was a good program and although it looks a little intimidating initially it’s fairly easy to get to grips with and use and has some advanced features that I’m sure you will find useful.
